In order to perform in-depth settings in NextCloud (or ownCloud), OCC commands are often required, which are executed via shell.
Since many NextCloud instances are hosted by external web hosts, it’s often not possible to access the shell of the web server.
For this purpose, there’s the “OCC Web” app, which must be installed and activated in NextCloud. Here is the link to the app in the NextCloud App Store:
https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/occweb
After the installation you will get a shell icon in the menu bar with which you can access the OCC Web Shell.
Press “Enter” to display all available commands that can be executed via the Web Shell.
A common example is updating the tables after a new NextCloud update. In my case the commands “db:add-missing-columns” and “db:add-missing-indices”.
